Life Cycle of a Tire

The life cycle of a tire

Day 3- Waking Up and Being Placed

I finally woke up from my surgery. It seems that I am still in a bunch of tiny chip pieces. I am okay with this because now I am at my final destination. It seems like a playground for kids. I have been turned into rubber mulch for kids. I will provide a safe, comfortable fall for the kids. I am not like wood mulch which is really hard and can hurt kids. It is not as amazing as I am. I am happy to settle down for a while. I will do my job as rubber, but I will not have to race as a tire at over 100 miles per hour. One day I may be recycled into another product. Until then I will provide my services as mulch.

Day 2- I Have Been Selected!

Could it be? Have I finally been chosen to be remolded into something new? It is true! I am on my way to the factory right now! I am so excited, I cannot contain myself!

*later that day*

I am about to be cut up into shreds. I will become a bunch of tiny pieces. Then I will be used to create something for kids. This is an intense surgery. I do not know if I am ready for this. Wish me luck!
We got our picture taken today! Woo!

Day 1- Sitting Around

I have been part of a rubber tire for what seems like forever. I have been sitting in this yard for what seems like forever. I was first born when they mixed the latex, peroxide, sulfur and bisphenol. After they mixed, I was molded, tested and shipped to a mechanic. I used to be on a cop car, hitting speeds over 100 miles per hour. It was an exciting time, but now I am stuck in this recycle yard waiting for someone to pick me up and take me to be used again. I do not think it will happen anytime soon. I am accompanied by my other fellow tires. We are a pretty awesome bunch. They want also want to become something new. My pal, Jimmy, wants to become part of a athletic turf. Bob, next to me, wants to become part of asphalt. He thinks it will be awesome. I do not know what I want to be made into. I will leave it up to the person who takes me.
